Unlock variant heroes
As you progress through the games you run into new variants of the hero types (e.g. cleric, frostmage, etc.). It would be cool if once you've had them as a companion you have the option of playing one of those variants yourself. It would be a nice way of adding some variety to the hero options.

Nordosin what way? Do you mean that the starting card is supposed to be different (i.e. lightning becoming a chill instead)? Since that seems what the starting artifacts are supposed too achieve ...
That said, having more starting artifacts wouldn't be so bad either in general. Though some really need to be buffed and or nerfed ... -

redria7In the interest of fleshing this out a bit - add new starter artifacts like the veteran pin that start you with some dedicated builds. So for frost mage, you would start with one of the frost influence cards (I forget what the lowest level is for the influence that allows you to deal double damage to frozen enemies) and start with a source of frost (there is a frost aoe rune).
This could be unlocked via leveling or solo play, I don’t really care, but being able to sink my starting gems to kick off a themed build at will would be awesome.
(A final alternative would be a starter artifact that allows you to choose your starting cards, from a set number of starter cards, common, etc, but no attack/skill/influence restriction) -

QuirkenI would absolutely like subclasses or something. Starter artifacts are neat, but the 3 gem limit for them is already a bit starved. Sometimes you can fall into ruts for a class where you have one build that is just so successfully you keep doing it forever and it gets stagnant.
